A Diamond in the Rough
The Birth of Inspire
Inspire Teenagers Foundation was born from the experiences of Susan Wairimu, who grew up in the Ngong Mathare slum, raised by a single mother amidst high poverty. Constantly in and out of school due to financial struggles, Susan's life took a challenging turn when she became pregnant at 16 years under peer pressure and poverty. Despite this, she courageously sat for her final KCSE exams from a maternity ward, drawing strength from her hardships.
Determined to ensure other girls don't face the same struggles in the maternity, Susan founded House of Hope in 2019 which later renamed to Inspire Teenagers organization to provide psychosocial support, sexual and reproductive health education, vocational training, and leadership development, empowering young girls to overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.
We work with teenagers aged 13-19 and teen mothers in the informal arid and semi-arid regions of Kenya. Inspire provides specialized programs to assist teen mothers on their journey through parenthood, prioritizing education and personal development.
